About the Seminar
This webinar provides an overview of methods and technologies for evaluating and managing existing bridges in the United States, including bridge inspection and condition rating methods, structural evaluation for strength and fatigue through the refined methods of field instrumentation, load testing, and structural monitoring, as well as bridge asset management, deterioration modeling, and applications of digital imaging and digital twin technologies.
Dr. Zhou will also review the evolution of bridge evaluation and management methods and discuss his views on the future trends.
About the Speaker
Dr. Zhou is an Associate Vice President and Bridge Instrumentation & Evaluation Lead in North America of AECOM. With over 30 years of experience in engineering practice, he has comprehensive knowledge and experience in multiple aspects throughout the bridge life cycle including structural analysis, design, inspection, load rating, fatigue and fracture assessment, problem diagnosis, structural testing/monitoring, as well as retrofit, rehabilitation, and replacement design.
Dr. Zhou earned his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Lehigh University. He served as a past chairman of ASCE Committee on Fatigue & Fracture and a current committee member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committee AKT50 Bridge and Structures Management and Committee AKB40 Testing and Evaluation of Transportation Structures under the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
