Project Title: Safety 4.0: AI-Driven Ship Safety Management
Description
The digitalization of shipboard operations and processes to manage maritime safety and health has generated unprecedented, huge amount of digital data. With the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), these data can offer new insights into the regulation of maritime safety and health. The project aims to develop (1) advanced predictive models that allow real-time identification, forecasting and gradation of ship and personal risks during ship operations, (2) comprehensive ship safety and health indexes which are composite indicators that reflect the overall safety performance of the ship and the mental & physiological well-being of the seafarers and (3) an AI-driven safety management system that autonomously monitors the safety and health index, sends prompts to individuals on risky events, and recommends best practices or interventions to deal with the event.
