Project Title: Analysing Present and Future Compound Hydroclimate Extremes in Southeast Asia
A brief write-up on the project:
A compound hydroclimate extreme event is simultaneous occurrence of two or more extreme events, e.g. concurrent flood and storm surge that together amplify the negative impacts of the individual events. Such compound events, which are much less understood than single extreme events, can further increase in frequency and intensity under climate change. There is a scientific and societal need to understand such compound extreme events in order to better inform on city planning and public preparedness. We will undertake such studies with a focus on cities in South East Asia.
