Congratulations to our CEE alumnus, Dr Yasuhiro Yokota (PhD graduate) for being awarded the Rocha Medal 2021, by the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM)!

Dr Yasuhiro Yokota’s doctoral thesis ‘Experimental and computational study on rock bolt modelling and its application on a new type of energy-absorbing rock bolt’ is awarded the winning thesis for the Rocha Medal 2021, by the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM).

The Rocha Medal has been awarded annually by the ISRM, since 1982, for an outstanding doctoral thesis in rock mechanics or rock engineering, to honor the memory of Past-President Manuel Rocha. The Rocha Medal is intended to stimulate young researchers in the field of rock mechanics.
