Maritime Studies students' overseas exchange visits in Europe
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Regional Director (Europe), Ms Loh Sin Yee, hosted 12 of our NTU-CEE Maritime Studies students who are currently on student exchange at Copenhagen Business School and BI Norwegian Business School.
Our students visited Port of Antwerp-Bruges Authority, Port of Rotterdam Authority, toured PSA Antwerp’s Noordzee Terminal and engaged with MPA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs colleagues based in Brussels.
The students learned about the importance of Port of Rotterdam and Antwerp-Bruges in connectivity across Continental Europe where cargoes are transhipped or transported across various modes of cargo train, inland waterway barges, trucks and pipelines across the region.
In addition, they were also able to experienced different mode of port operations as compared to Singapore, where straddle carries are mainly used in the Ports as contrast to prime movers, rubber-tyred and overhead yard cranes in Singapore.
