Research Associate Li Ziyang won Best Student Presentation Award

The School is thrilled to congratulate our Research Associate Li Ziyang for winning the Best Student Presentation Award at the Net-Zero Future 2024 Conference in Oslo, Norway!  He is one of the 10 receipents for this award.

The Net-Zero Future project is an international alliance with Norway, Germany, India, South Africa, and the USA, focused on researching and promoting net-zero buildings. This initiative supports sustainable development goals such as quality education, innovation, sustainable cities, and climate action. It involves collaboration between five academic institutions and industry partners, aiming to inspire the next generation of engineers and researchers to reduce carbon footprints in the built environment.

Ziyang's presentation highlighted his study on developing cement-free binders using locally available resources. He explored using excavated clay (a waste material) and carbide slag (a recycled activator) to create geopolymer materials. This research highlights the potential of using local clay and recycled materials to develop eco-friendly construction solutions.

Ziyang would like to thanks his supervisor Associate Professor Qian Shunzhi, NTUitive gap funding programme, and ExxonMobil-NTU-A*STAR Corporate Lab for their support.
