Wang Gungwu Library
On 13 September 2003, the Resource Centre at the Chinese Heritage Centre was named Wang Gungwu Library (WGWL) in recognition of Professor Wang’s scholarship and significant contribution to the field of Chinese Overseas Studies. Professor Tommy Koh,
the immediate past chairman of the Chinese Heritage Centre Council, and Mr Wee Cho Yaw, the founding chairman of the Centre, jointly officiated at the naming ceremony. The Library which houses mainly resources on ethnic Chinese overseas subjects has
also benefited from Professor Wang’s generous donation. The WGWL presently holds a collection of around 56,000 items.
