Interdisciplinary Engineering Workshops
In our specially designed interdisciplinary engineering workshops, you will gain knowledge and learn how engineering and technology shape our daily lives, contributing to the creation of a greener and more sustainable future. These workshops are led by students from various engineering schools, offering you insights into the different disciplines of engineering and their learning journeys.
Hydroponics and Candle Making by Engineers Without Borders, NTU
Be introduced to the fascinating world of hydroponics. Our student-led group, Engineers Without Borders (EWB), will guide you in understanding sustainable agriculture and its crucial role in addressing pressing environmental challenges. Students will delve into the concept of hydroponics, create their own hydroponics system with automated watering system and discover how this revolutionises traditional farming methods.
Going beyond nurturing plants, EWB takes a step further by demonstrating practical applications of the plants they cultivate. From sustainable cultivation to the creation of personalised candles using grown plants, you will be able to connect theory with hands-on experiences. Don't forget to take your candle home and share the art of sustainability with your friends and family!
Wind Turbine Design and Fabrication to Power Street Lamps
Emphasising the simplification of fundamental engineering concepts, including electricity, energy conversion from natural to electrical sources, and pneumatic systems, this workshop allows you to grasp the foundational knowledge essential for real-world applications.
Through this interactive experience, you will have the opportunity to construct your own functional wind turbine to take home and master the art of utilising natural elements to power a street lamp. What’s more? You also get to collaborate with fellow participants to build a hydraulic fighting robot for an exciting battle to test the capabilities of your creations!
