Dr Phua Dong Haur is a Senior Consultant Emergency Physician at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and an Adjunct Associate Professor at both the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He completed toxicology training at the Rocky Mountain Poison Center in Denver, Colorado, and the National Poison Center in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2007. Upon his return to Singapore, Dr Phua played a key role in establishing a toxicology consultation service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, supporting the emergency department and intensive care units in managing complex poisoning cases.

Dr Phua is dedicated to medical education, serving as Assistant Dean of Assessment at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and as Core Faculty for the National Healthcare Group Emergency Medicine Residency Programme. Appointed as the Programme Director for the National Healthcare Group Emergency Medicine Residency Programme (2017–2023), Dr Phua worked on strengthening residency training and continues to mentor and support faculty development. Recognised for his efforts, Dr Phua received the NHG Teaching Award for Senior Doctors in 2022, reflecting his enthusiasm for teaching and nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

His research spans a variety of interests, including acute poisoning, diagnostic decision-making, and innovations in medical education. While much of his work addresses practical challenges in clinical settings, Dr Phua has also delved into areas such as the application of artificial intelligence in assessments, demonstrating his adaptability and interest in improving healthcare education and systems.

In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr Phua holds a Master’s degree in Medical Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, specialising in Measurement and Assessment. He serves as a consultant to Singapore's Ministry of Health, contributing to the review of national specialist examinations. Dr Phua’s efforts are guided by a desire to add value to the healthcare community, focusing on practical improvements, supporting systems that benefit both patients and society, and remaining a useful and contributing member of Singapore’s medical landscape.
