April 2025 | Issue 4

The first quarter of 2025 was marked by several notable events at LKCMedicine, including the 5th James Best Distinguished Lecture, the Anatomy Challenge, and our highly anticipated NTU Open House 2025. These annual events provided an immersive showcase of our innovative medical education, groundbreaking state-of-the-art facilities, and vibrant student life, as well as community engagement.

Early this year, a special tribute dinner was held in honour of Mr Lim Chuan Poh, LKCMedicine’s founding chairman, bringing together leaders, partners, students, and alumni to celebrate his legacy. To commemorate his contributions, a dedicated book was also published a few weeks later. In the same spirit of appreciation, the School held an LKCMedicine Appreciation Dinner to recognise the School’s achievements in 2024 and express gratitude to its valued partners.

On the research front, Assistant Professor Andrea Pavesi’s team made a breakthrough by developing a 3D vascularised liver tumour model, enhancing the study of chemotherapy and immunotherapy’s effects on liver cancer. Meanwhile, among our accomplished alumni, Dr Stewart Retnam and Dr Ang Jia Wei share their inspiring journey from medical school to marriage, with both excelling in their respective fields.

LKCMedicine continues to reach new heights, ranking 85th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 and receiving prestigious accolades, including the Eco-Office 4 Leaf Award (Elite) and a CASE Asia-Pacific Regional Award for the Art & Science of Medicine Festival.
