The Science of Learning in Education Centre hosts the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB)
On 6 March 2024, the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC) hosted over 60 participants from the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB), accompanied by Mr Pang Chong Han, Director of Exam Operations, Mr Roger Hoe, Assistant Director of SEAB, and members of the Class of 2023, MSc (Science of Learning). The visit was organised during Brain Awareness Week (BAW), which aimed to promote brain literacy among educators.
Hosted by Assistant Professor Azilawati Jamaludin, Assistant Centre Director in Human Potential and Translation at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC), attendees explored the newly established SoLEC Collab Space and Classroom lab where Dr Yuvaraj Rajamanickam, Education Research Scientist at Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC), Dr Tan Aik Lim, Research Fellow at the Office of Education Research, and Mr Wong Kwong Choong conducted demonstrations and hands-on activities using a range of neuro and physiological feedback tools, including EEG, ECG, EDM, and eye trackers. During the visit, Dr Tan Ser Hong delivered an engaging talk on "Understanding Student Test Anxiety," sparking a dialogue among participants about test anxiety during examinations and its consequences.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr Pang expressed appreciation for the enlightening workshops and valuable insights shared by the presenters. He emphasised the importance of SoLEC's mission in supporting students and schools, fostering potential collaborations to address assessment needs using Science of Learning methodologies.
