Guidance from Singapore's religious leaders 'important', has helped avoid tensions seen overseas: Shanmugam

On November 8, Law and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam emphasized the vital role of religious leaders, particularly in the context of global religious tensions. He stressed that they have a responsibility to guide their communities. 

Minister Shanmugam made these remarks during an event hosted by the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO), a non-governmental organization that fosters religious harmony. This event marked the Singapore premiere of the locally produced documentary "Technologies of the Soul," directed by Ian McGonigle, an Assistant Professor in NTU's Sociology Programme. The documentary effectively illustrates the harmonious coexistence of religion and tradition within Singapore's evolving technological society.
