Journey of a ComSci Trailblazer

👨🏻‍💻Journey of a ComSci Trailblazer

Tze Kean is a third-year Computer Science student from the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE). He has a strong passion for learning new systems and architectures, delving deeply into understanding how machines are developed and enhanced.

“I find that there are many parallels between machines and our own lives. For example, we can optimise our schedules using well-known algorithms. The application of computer science to everyday life is limitless.”

"As we digitise our nation and economy, there are many more opportunities to explore and create with computer systems. Both software and hardware are becoming increasingly accessible to the masses, amplifying the potential positive impact one can have," Tze Kean strongly believes in innovating technology for the greater good of everyone.

He is experienced in various internships, including those he initiated independently.

“Back in Year 1 Summer, I took on an internship under REANGLE focusing on sustainable finance, which aided me later in my studies when I undertook the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC) modules and my minor in business. I gained an interest in startups and entrepreneurial opportunities, which led me to join a pre-startup to ideate and develop business plans. I grew fonder of startups, specifically focusing on fintech, and had the opportunity to join ADDX as a data analyst to learn more about private investments and how a Series B startup plans and grows,” he reflects on how these experiences have shaped his envisioned career path.

At NTU, there are numerous opportunities for students to develop a wide range of skills.

“Throughout my NTU journey, I had the chance to collaborate with exceptional professors, NTU staff, and friends to organise and execute events for current and prospective students. I think it's truly wonderful that NTU has a system that enables students to explore various roles for self-growth and networking.”

Currently serving as a College Student Ambassador, Tze Kean focuses on reaching out to prospective students. His responsibilities include planning key events such as CCDS Information Sessions and Open Houses, and he has also served as an emcee and panellist for various talk sessions. “Sharing my university journey with prospective students has been an enriching experience,” he reflects. With the personality type ENTJ, Tze Kean has the traits of extraversion, intuition, thinking, and judging.
