Fern is a sculptural bench inspired by the lush greenery of the NTU campus. Designed as a functional artwork, it offers shelter for students and staff moving between classes. On sunny days, solar panels power two built-in charging stations, so you can charge your devices while you rest. Fern blends design and tech, showing how creative thinking shapes the spaces we live, learn, and move through.

About the artists

Fern was designed and conceptualised by Liew Ming Jia, Jin Su Huan and Eugene Tan from the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) in the 2014 Product Design class conducted by visiting artist Fabrizio Galli. Technical advice was provided by NTU Museum and Energy research Institute at NTU (ERI@N).
