Dr Jiangang HAO

Biography

Dr. Jiangang Hao is a research director at ETS, leading the Assessment for Complex Skills program. His current research centers on innovating EdTech, data science, psychometrics, LLM and generative AI methods to measure the complex skills of people and their interactions. Some specific areas include Collaborative Problem Solving, Test Security in Remote Testing, and Game/Simulation-based Assessments.

Hao’s research was recognised by ETS Presidential Award in 2016 and the Annual Award for Exceptional Achievement in Educational measurement by the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) in 2024. Hao authored or coauthored over 90 peer-reviewed publications with over 8,000 citations. He holds a Ph.D. in physics and an M.A. in statistics from the University of Michigan. His work has been featured in leading technology media such as Wired and the MIT Technology Review.
