Translation 4 Impact Webinar Series – Research Dissemination: Engaging the Audience Through Traditional and Social Media

On 26 July 2024, the Research-Practice-Policy Group (RPPG) at the Office of Education Research (OER) held its 2nd Translation 4 Impact (T41) webinar, where they hosted Associate Professor Loh Chin Ee, Associate Dean (Partnerships) at the OER, and Deputy Head (Research) at the English Language and Literature (ELL) Academic Department, Dr Wong Lung Hsiang, Senior Education Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), OER, and Ms Radiah Belak, Education Analyst at RPPG, OER.

A/P Loh Chin Ee shared the process of choosing different media for research impact including opinion pieces in the press, creating a project website, and sharing her research on platforms such as ResearchGate and LinkedIn. Dr Wong Lung Hsiang shared experiences and tips on identifying compelling topics, writing engaging articles, and preparing for interviews, as well as strategies for clear, impactful writing and confident interview responses. Ms Radiah Belak provided a brief overview of X’s usage statistics to understand its reach, followed by an exploration of its effectiveness post-rebranding to X. She also covered topics such as what content to tweet, common pitfalls to avoid, and the optimal times to tweet.
