About the Mentorship Clinic

The Mentorship Clinic is a new initiative by NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur) set up to accelerate the entrepreneurial journeys of students. Meet more than 30 mentors consisting of faculty, staff, and alumni industry practitioners across different industries.  Make an appointment to see the mentor whose expertise is closest match to your needs. The clinic opens once a week, mentorship is on 1-1 basis, and for 30 minutes. Students are required to provide information on advice required from the mentor in the mentorship booking system.

Registration for a Mentorship Clinic session

Please note that mentorship is subjected to mentor’s availability and is based on a first-come-first-serve basis. You can register for any available slots or join the waiting list if the slots are fully booked. As the availability for mentorship slots are limited, we encourage students to register as early as possible to secure your preferred mentor and timeslot.

Steps to register for the Mentorship Clinic

  1. Decide on the mentor who may address your need
  2. You may need to create an account if you do not have one yet. Please use your NTU email address to sign up. 
  3. Log into the system
  4. Select your mentor and browse for available mentorship slots
  5. Choose a suitable timeslot
  6. Register: You will be prompted you to enter your name, email, contact number and a short summary on advice required from your mentor. Look out for a booking confirmation email.

Students are reminded to be respectful of the mentor's time and expertise. Please be on time and come prepared with questions or topics you would like to discuss with your mentor. The duration of each session is 30 minutes.

After the session, you can send a thank-you note to the mentor and follow up on any action items or tasks discussed during the session.

Mr Louis Chan is a Managing Partner at AR iCapital LLP and Corporate Services Manager at ALP Law Corporation. He has more than a decade of experience and is now specialised in cross-border business strategy and development (Singapore-China).

He is the key consultant for foreign companies seeking to expand into Singapore and was an Executive Director on a SGX Mainboard Listed company.   

He is also involved in the Entrepreneurship Eco-System in China and is an instructor with NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur). He has consistently received an average score of 4 and above for teaching evaluation.

15 Dr Chan Ying Lock

Dr. Chan Ying Lock

Dr. Chan Ying Lock started his career as an accountant and auditor in PMM (now KPMG) and moved on to corporate finance with a British merchant bank and venture capital with Transpac Capital.  

He managed an international publishing business and was invited by the Tote Board to set up SEHub, Singapore's first statutory impact fund, now called raiSE Singapore. In 2015, he joined Garden Impact Investments as Director of Investments and now heads Oaktree Impact Consulting.  

His domain knowledge and experience are in helping new businesses manage their growth and expansion in their financial management. He also teaches management accounting for 17 years at Nanyang Business School (NBS) and financing for new ventures at NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur) and NTU School of Biological Sciences (SBS).

Mr Ted Chen
Co-founder and CEO, Evercomm Singapore

Mr Ted Chen is the Co-founder and CEO of Evercomm Singapore – “one of Asia Pacific’s fastest growing Sustainability AI companies in the cleantech sector.” Evercomm is an Enterprise Singapore Scale-up Company and also accredited by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). The company works closely with the United Nations and governments worldwide to pilot industry-scale sustainability transformation initiatives.

Ted is also the youngest to receive the prestigious Singapore Energy Award and recognized as one of the digital pioneers by the Singapore Committee on the Future Economy (CFE).

Beside Evercomm. Ted is an expert technical partner for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Telecommunication Union’s Generation Connect board member and Science Policy Focal Point for the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY). Ms Audrey Chen Yihan

Holding a strong belief in a growth mindset and life-long learning, Ms Chen Yihan (Audrey) has been a continuous learner with a special interest in education, entrepreneurship, and business management. Her areas of interest are personal development, entrepreneurial decision-making, and project management.  

Trained in education research and business management, Audrey has built up a career path covering major stages of enterprise development: start-up, SME, listed companies, as well as public education institutions. Mr Stanley Chia

Mr Stanley Chia is the Co-founder of Cialfo, a Series B stage start-up that is democratizing college access globally. Cialfo serves over 3,000 education institutions across 105 countries, providing high school college counselors with comprehensive information, powerful process management tools, and AI-powered college guidance support.

Stanley graduated from Nanyang Technological University with Second Upper Class Honours in the Bachelor of Accountancy and Minor in Entrepreneurship. Stanley's passion for social entrepreneurship began in 2010 when he founded Envisage Education Pte Ltd, a social enterprise that empowers youths to create positive change in their communities. He has rich past experiences serving on national initiatives, including being a committee member of the Our Singapore Conversations, a supervisory board member of the REACH Supervisory Panel, and the council member of Social Development Network-Trust.

Currently, Stanley volunteers as an Entrepreneur-In-Residence in Ngee Ann Polytechnic Start-up Incubator, School Advisory Committee member of Pei Cai Secondary School, and Co-Chairs the SGTech EdTech Committee. 03 Kenneth Chiam - e

Mr Kenneth Chiam is the founder and director of Global Homestay Services, a hospitality business providing accommodation and travel-related services. He also runs Solutionz Consulting, providing business strategy and planning, accounting, finance, and taxation advisory services.

As a Chartered Accountant (Singapore), he has extensive experience in the private education industry, having been appointed as a school director in 2008. Kenneth is also an educator and has been facilitating the entrepreneurial journey for various undergraduate courses at NTU since 2006. He holds adjunct positions as associate lecturer, course lead, and curriculum developer at other educational institutions. He is a Specialist Adult Educator (SAE-Facilitation) with the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) under Singapore's SkillsFuture framework.

In addition to his professional and academic pursuits, Kenneth has been involved in other entrepreneurial endeavors, including a family-owned pet hotel business that ended with an equity-sale exit. He received the Advanced Certificate in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education in 2011 and Teaching Merit Award (2016) and Teaching Excellence Award (2017, 2022) by Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).

Benedict Leow

Mr Benedict Leow

Benedict Leow is Co-founder & Director of The Soup Spoon since 2002, leading in strategic management and innovation development. He implemented several capability development projects, which include design thinking, customer centric initiatives, digitalisation and business excellence, and enabled the company to win the Singapore Prestige Brand Award in 2009 (promising brand) and in 2012 (established brand). In 2013, the company’s secured its first Human Resources Excellence Awards for ‘HR Technology’, and in 2015, emerged the overall winner for the WSQ Training Excellence (SME Food category) and the Singapore Quality Class for Innovation Excellence.

Prior to Benedict’s entrepreneurial ventures, he worked as a systems analyst, senior consultant and marketing manager in the consulting and hospitality industries. An advocator for continuous learning, he served as a mentor to undergraduates in Nanyang Business School and as member of the Award Committee for National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) since 2020.

Kai Lim

Kai Lim
Founder and COO, Reprise Health

Kai Lim is a Singaporean entrepreneur who ventured to New York to build Reprise - a consumer health brand that puts authentic whole herbs into tasty daily gummies.

Prior to this, he was a Management Consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, working on global projects across functions such as strategy, operations, cost management and  innovation, etc. Whilst pursuing his MBA, he worked on numerous projects as an independent consultant with corporations such as The International Financial Corporation in South Africa (on innovation in Financial Institution sector) and Rabato clinic in Ghana (on improving healthcare accessibility). He also worked on projects with startups in the Consumer space - including Incredo Sugar (a global food-tech company offering improved nutrition) and Brass Roots (a healthy snack brand).

His pursuit into entrepreneurship was a significant deviation from the traditional path he was comfortable with. One that allowed him to learn from the vicarious wisdom of other founders and from his own personal experience. Today, he is a successful entrepreneur and a role model for many aspiring entrepreneurs who want to pursue their dreams.

Adrian Fan-E

Mr Adrian Fan

Mr Adrian Fan is a Harvard Business School alumnus and an accomplished entrepreneur hailing from both Singapore and the United States. He currently manages two innovative ventures: Survon, an award-winning Harvard start-up that leverages artificial intelligence for cancer imaging, and CuroAI, a mental health start-up that offers comprehensive mental health support and monitoring capabilities through an AI chatbot. Mr Farhan Firdaus is a venture builder and operations professional who was the COO of OraCare Group where he helped to grow the company to raise US$24M and expand to 24 locations. He was also the Head of Venture Building at Seristine Group where he led a portfolio company to US$1M revenue within 1+ years.

He has mentored close to 500 startup founders in the ASEAN and Oceania region, some of whom have won national-level competitions and been invested by state-level companies and multinational conglomerates.

Farhan has also been recognised as one of the most outstanding young professionals in Singapore, receiving the Ten Outstanding Young Person Award in Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Mr Filippo Giachi

Mr Filippo has been the founder and Managing Director of NTT DOCOMO’s digital business in Asia Pacific, leading it from inception to multibillion-dollar turnover in the span of a few years. During this time, he has been building and scaling a variety of tech businesses for the company, with successful product/service launches across multiple geographies and forging enduring alliances with key corporate clients and partners – especially telecoms, OTTs, payments and app stores.

Previously, heading Business Development for Asia Pacific in RCS, a European media company, Filippo led the launch of OTTs and content partnerships - focusing on mobile gaming, music majors, video streaming providers (SVOD) and handsets manufacturers (OEM).

Having lived in the region for about 15 years, predominantly between Singapore, India and Australia, Filippo has an extended network of executives and talent in the broader technology space and is a regular guest speaker at industry events.

During his free time, Filippo is an avid reader and a sports enthusiast, having been a competitive swimmer and coach in the early 2000s, and loves to dedicate time to students and entrepreneurs, mainly via mentorship programs.

She has lived and worked in Sweden for 40 years before returning to Singapore and has a profound understanding of Scandinavian leadership and management practices.

27-Eric-Lam

Mr Eric Lam
Founder and Venture Principal, Recast Ventures 

Mr Eric Lam is a serial entrepreneur with 20 years of Zero-to-One start-up experience. He successfully founded and exited one of the region’s most successful STEM EduTech company, raising over SGD20m from individual and institutional investors, including publicly listed companies. As the CEO of his enterprise, Eric's vision led to the development of highly acclaimed Edutech learning products. He also co-founded and exited an edtech start-up in Australia within two years. 

Eric's expertise extends to setting up new ventures in Asia Pacific and the USA, investing in and mentoring start-ups in various industries in Singapore, and scaling businesses regionally, in the USA, and the Middle East. His unique insights on business design, opportunity identification, competition, and entrepreneurship have earned him invitations to share his educational and disruptive competition narrative at MBA programs and international conferences.

Professor Li is an Associate Professor at the Nanyang Business School. He has been with NTU since 1994 and has held various visiting positions. His research has been published in major international journals, including Accident Analysis & Prevention, European Journal of Operational Research, IEEE on Intelligent Transport System, among others.

 He is an international expert on revenue management and congestion pricing. He has provided advisory services to many government agencies and has also served as a consultant/advisor to several MNCs, listed companies and start-ups. He teaches entrepreneurship courses such as Master of Science in Technopreneurship & Innovation Programme and covers various entrepreneurship topics for executive education programs at NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur).

Dr Li Wei is a seasoned R&D and technology commercialisation expert with over 18 years of experience. He is the CEO and founder of Transfong Ventures, a venture builder that supports deep tech companies in launching overseas businesses and establishing technology commercialisation partnerships in Singapore and China. Transfong Ventures has operations centers in Shanghai, Suzhou, and Xiamen and is backed by government agencies, research institutes, technology companies, and investors in Singapore and China.

Prior to founding Transfong Ventures, Dr Li spent 10 years at the Agency of Science, Technology and Research in Singapore, focusing on IP management, technology commercialisation, and industry R&D partnerships. He also has 5 years of engineering and R&D project management experience at SSMC, a joint venture of TSMC and NXP in Singapore.

Prof Liu Lerwen is an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship (Practice) at NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur). She teaches various entrepreneurship programs focusing on sustainability and circular economy, empowering students with mindset, knowledge, and skills. She has over 25 years of global business development experience supporting research commercialization, impact, and nurturing start-ups.  

She is the founding director of STEAM Platform, focusing on youth empowerment with convergent STEM knowledge, strategic communication skills, and entrepreneurship for SDGs2030, Circular Economy, and Industry 4.0.  

 Her academic research areas cover semiconductor transports and nanostructure studies, and later, entrepreneurship ecosystem and circular economy studies. She is an author and co-editor of the 1st Textbook, “An Introduction to Circular Economy” published by Springer Nature in Dec. 2020 (ISBN: 978-981-15-8509-8, at link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-981-15-8510-4). This book was awarded the Springer Nature’s China Development Award in 2021.

07 Jason Lee

Mr Jason, founder, and CEO of Scent by SIX decided to pursue his passion for fragrances at the age of 30 to launch the artisanal brand. As a former management associate at Givaudan, he partnered with the perfume house to create a collection of fine fragrances inspired by his favourite destinations.

Since its launch in 2016, the brand has collaborated with established local brands such as Singapore Airlines and Eu Yan Sang to create their bespoke scents. Jason has also conducted scent workshops for luxury brands such as Piaget, Lexus and Ritz Carlton, and expanded its retail network.

The brand has been recognized for its commitment to hard work and passion, receiving the Made with Passion initiative and the Promising Brand award from the Singapore Prestige Brand Award.

12 Prof Lee Kwan Min (1)

Prof Kwan Min Lee (Ph.D., Stanford) is the inaugural Korea Foundation Professor in Contemporary Korean Society and New Media, and the Director of UX (User Experience) Lab at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). 

He was the founding director of Interaction Science Research Center and the founding WCU (World Class University) Professor of the Interaction Science at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU). He also directed Samsung Electronics' User Experience (UX) Group and the Creative Lab (C-Lab) as one of the youngest vice presidents in the Samsung corporate history.

Harish was previously President of Kemin Food Technologies Asia, managing the Asia Pacific region. He is passionate about sustainable food systems and contributing towards UN Sustainability Development Goals. He has two decades of experience in food systems, including Agri inputs, food/farm animal health and nutrition, food processing, manufacturing, preservation, shelf-life extension and food safety.

Mr Ngiam Tee Woh

Mr Tee Woh has nearly 30 years of experience in Entrepreneurship, Design Engineering and educating the next generation. He is currently involved in the Business Development of a UK-based Entrepreneurship Simulation software in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2020, the software was accepted by MOE China as an approved entrepreneurship simulation software.
