Electronic Workshop

The Electronic Workshop provides printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication, soldering, and electronic circuit assembly services. We also provide access to the workshop equipment for Division of Physics and Applied Physics researchers.

To request for PCB fabrication, soldering, or electronic circuit assembly, please download the order form here, and submit it along with other necessary information to our facility administrators (see below). For PCB fabrication, please provide schematics and CAM files (Gerber or LPKF format); for other jobs, please provide the necessary circuit schematics (preferably in hardcopy). We strongly encourage you to come discuss your plans with us in person, to ensure that the plans are feasible.

All electronic components must be provided by you. Workshop fees are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Once the order has been approved and accepted, you can track the job progress here:

Electronic Workshop Job Tracker

The workshop is open to staff and students in the Division of Physics and Applied Physics. However, all users must strictly follow the Workshop Rules and Regulations; failure to do so may result in being banned from the workshop. If you are not sure how to operate a piece of equipment, ask one of the staff.

Generally, we do not lend tools or equipment, in order to ensure that the tools and equipment remain available in the workshop for everyone to use. If you strongly need to borrow something, contact us and ask.

If you take components from the component racks, please fill in the record book.
