What do quantum physics and big data have in common? At first glance, this question seems a bit strange - one explores the tiniest particles in nature, while the other deals with vast amounts of information from complex every day systems. Yet, in this lecture, I will outline the rapid developments at NTU showing the tomorrows breakthroughs in big data may well come from science at the quantum scale. I outline how quantum principles offer entirely new ways to process data, enabling more efficient decision making and heralding a new age of quantum-assisted intelligent machines.
