An interdisciplinary programme combining an education in general Chemistry with its special applications to the Earth Sciences and Environmental Management.
This programme is run by the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) in partnership with the Asian School of the Environment and the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Humanity's impacts on the environment, from microplastic pollution in the oceans to the effects of global climate change, will be a defining theme of the 21st century. Trained chemists have a critical role to play in developing a better scientific understanding of the environmental changes occurring around us, as well as designing systems to detect, mitigate, and correct for these problems. This programme is an excellent stepping stone for those interested in contributing to these important scientific challenges.
Graduates of the programmes have exciting career prospects in environmental consultancies, regulatory agencies, the chemical industry, and more.
