A local study has found that majority of those surveyed support the social distancing measures set in place by the government, but feel that circuit breaker measures could have been introduced earlier. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), NUS and NTU Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information have embarked on studies to explore the impact of social behaviours on the pandemic. A study led by Prof May O. Lwin that analyses social media posts found that while fear dominated public sentiments at the start of the outbreak, this gradually gave way to anger over the course of the pandemic. Concurrent with this shift is the emergence of resilience and sense of pride.
