Tan Kah Kee Professorship
The Tan Kah Kee Professorship was launched on 21 October 1996 by President Ong Teng Cheong at the National Institute of Education (NIE) to honour the late Mr. Tan Kah Kee and to pay tribute to his exceptional and wide-ranging contributions. A S$1.5 million
donation from the Tan Kah Kee Foundation and a matching government grant funded the professorship.
Its goal is to enhance NTU's research profile by appointing eminent persons in the various fields of specialisations.
Two professors have visited NTU under this professorship:- Professor King Ning-Tu from UCLA, USA, visited School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE)
- Professor Chang Ngee-Pong from City College of CUNY, USA, visited School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
