Students' Take: A night under the stars: LKCMedicine Dinner and Dance 2022

By Ng Wei Long, Class of 2026 and Dinner and Dance Head

On 5 August, the annual LKCMedicine Dinner and Dance returned after a three-year hiatus, at Dusit Thani Laguna. This year, the event was themed Lucida Sidera, the shining stars – representing each and every one of the LKCMedicine students and faculty, collectively illuminating and energising the world around us like a constellation. The night featured games, dance and musical entertainment, and a delectable array of food.

The first Dinner and Dance since 2019, it also drew the largest crowd yet, with 250 Year 2 to 4 medical students and faculty attending the event dressed in their finest.

The event was fittingly held at Dusit Thani Laguna, in line with the theme of the night, with its high glass ceilings showing off the night sky. Students and faculty socialised under the stars at the reception.

The event kicked off with a high energy dance performance by our M2 students, starting the night with a bang. This was followed by a speech by LKCMedicine Dean Professor Joseph Sung. The night then continued with games and musical performances by our students throughout the night, which were met with rapturous response from the enthusiastic audience.

Through months of planning, the DnD committee achieved its goal of throwing a memorable night for the community in LKCMedicine to come together and celebrate their friendships in the past academic year.
