24 May 2023 11.00 AM - 12.00 PM Industry/Academic Partners

On 24 May 2023, Asst Prof Edward Park and Asst Prof Wang Jingyu from NIE hosted 25 students from the Singapore Chinese Girls School (SCGS) for a 1.5-hour field trip at the NIE Rain Garden. This place-based learning is part of the secondary school Geography curriculum. During the programme, the students immersed in hands-on field activities to broaden their perspectives towards sustainable water management via nature-based solutions. The Rain Garden is a low-impact development technology that works with nature to reduce storm run-off and localised flooding. It was co-built by PUB, AECOM, Greenearth Consultancy Limited and NIE to support sustainability pedagogy. Details of the water filtration process of the Rain Garden can be found here.
