Assistant Professor Azilawati Jamaludin speaks at the Physics IPSG Symposium 2025
Assistant Professor Azilawati Jamaludin, Assistant Centre Director in Human Potential and Translation at the Science of Learning Education Center (SoLEC), was invited as the keynote speaker for the Physics IPSG Symposium 2025, organised at Tampines Meridian Junior College. This event was held on 22 January 2025, with the theme of "From Joy of Learning to Lifelong Learning", the symposium gathered approximately 100 pre-university physics educators, creating a platform to inspire and exchange innovative teaching practices.
During her 40-minute keynote address, Asst Prof Jamaludin delivered an engaging session that combined neuroscience and education. Drawing on recent neuroscience research, she highlighted the neural mechanisms underlying learning processes, including the roles of dopamine and the activation of brain regions like the prefrontal cortex and putamen in motivation, memory, and task engagement. In addition, she also expounded on practical applications of neuroscience and its implications on lesson design for physics lessons. The session transitioned into a 15-minute interactive Q&A, where Asst Prof Jamaludin addressed questions on applying neuroscience principles to classroom practices.
The symposium provided a comprehensive exploration of the intersection between neuroscience and education, equipping educators with deeper understanding on the way students learn.
