Associate Professor Loh Chin Ee co-publishes a journal article in the Changing English journal

Assoc Prof Loh Chin Ee, Deputy Head (Research) at the English Language and Literature Academic Group (ELL AG), co-wrote a journal article titled “Not just reading the romance online: adolescent girls’ reading Korean Manhwa” in the Changing English journal, alongside Ms Nur Shazwani Binte Rosli, a Year 4 Bachelor of Arts in English Literature student at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Ms Maya Ziqing Krishnan, a Year 3 Bachelor of Arts in English Literature student at NTU. The article examines how and why adolescents read Manhwa, especially romances, and drew on in-depth interviews with 11 adolescent girls aged 14 to 15 years old. The findings showed that these girls read for entertainment and to escape reality.
