Dr Lim Yang Teck Kenneth, Education Research Scientist at the  Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP) and his team were invited by AI Singapore (AISG) to attend the launch of their Student Outreach Programme on 27 July 2022. The event was held at the Asia-Pacific Headquarters of Google and officiated by Minister of State for Education & Manpower, Ms Gan Siow Huang.

The Student Outreach Programme is open to students in secondary schools, junior colleges, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), local universities and other institutes of higher learning. It is designed to help them gain literacy and proficiency in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Ms Gan said the Ministry of Education (MOE) will provide $1.8 million in funding for the programme. Additionally, 21 students per year will also have the opportunity to participate in three- to six-month paid internships with AISG engineers and partners such as the Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT), where they will work on real-world industry projects with deployment deliverables.

This was the second AI-related event that Dr Lim was invited to during the month of July 2022. On 7 July 2022, Seoul National University had invited Dr Lim to speak at a symposium held at the College of Education, Seoul National University, Korea.
