NIE Researchers Publish in Asia-Pacific Science Education

Dr Uma Natarajan, Research Manager, Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice, Assoc Prof Tan Aik Ling, Deputy Head (Teaching & Curriculum Matters), NIE’s Natural Sciences & Science Education Academic Group (NSSE), and Assoc Prof Teo Tang Wee, NSSE, have published a paper in Asia-Pacific Science Education.

The article, titled “Theorizing STEM Leadership: Agency, Identity and Community” examines how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education points to a need to re-examine ways of classifying school subjects and learning, and calls for STEM leadership in schools to focus on building STEM teachers. This was based on findings from Assoc Prof Tan’s project, “Comparing students' questioning, argumentation and creative thinking in problem-centric and solution-centric STEM activities”.

NIE staff/students can access the journal for free through the LIBRIS portal at https://login.libproxy.nie.edu.sg/login.
