Samuel Li Cheng Xin's Final Year Project thesis published in the Annals of American Association of Geographers
Samuel Li Cheng Xin, a recent graduate of NIE TSP and currently pursuing his master's in Geography at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), has achieved a remarkable milestone by publishing his Final Year Project (FYP) in the prestigious Annals of the American Association of Geographers. His research, supervised by Assistant Professor Edward Park at the Humanities and Social Studies Education (HSSE) department, addresses the critical and challenging issue of riverbed sand mining in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Over a year of dedicated work, including rigorous field surveys in remote and difficult conditions, Sam investigated the environmental and social impacts of sand mining on local communities. His groundbreaking findings provide new insights into the detrimental effects of sand mining on livelihoods, marking the first comprehensive academic exploration of this issue. This significant achievement underscores Sam's academic prowess and dedication, making his contribution highly commendable in the field of Geography.
