What the future holds
By Amanda Lee, Editor, The LKCMedicine
If there is anything constant in life, it is change. When the world welcomed the start of the new decade, no one would have expected the emergence of a new virus spreading rapidly across the world, infecting millions, killing more than a million to date.
Countries all over the world, including Singapore, were under lockdown to flatten the Covid-19 curve. It is still too early to say that we have overcome the pandemic. No one knows how long the battle will last. However, life has to go on and as we trudge along towards normalcy, we must stay vigilant.
In this issue, we speak to incoming LKCMedicine Dean, Professor Joseph Sung, who talks about his life outside academia and aspirations for the School and university. We also hear from recently appointed LKCMedicine Vice-Dean (Faculty Affairs) Associate Professor Andrew Tan on what draws him to the School.
Year 4 student Sean Ng, who recently took the reins as LKCMedicine Students' Medical Society's President, pens deep thoughts about the society's future plans.
