Associate Professor Victor Lim Fei publishes two book chapters and an editorial

Assoc Prof Victor Lim Fei, from NIE’s English Language and Literature Academic Group (ELL AG), published a book chapter titled “Teachers as designers of learning in a curriculum for the future in Singapore” in the third edition of a Swedish book series titled “To Become a Teacher (Att Bli Larare)”.

He also published another book chapter titled “Intercultural Communication in Youtubers’ Gameplay Video” in the “Multimodal Communication in Intercultural Interaction” book series. Assoc Prof Victor posits that video game players demonstrate intercultural awareness through their gameplay by adopting both Scollon et Al.’s (2012) discourse approach to culture as a heuristic pointing to emerging shared ideologies, face systems, forms of disclosure, and/or socialisation, and Adami’s (Chapter 2, this volume) social semiotic perspective on interculturality.

Assoc Prof Victor published an editorial titled “Transduction in Evolving Contexts of Intermodal Meaning Making: Moving Meaning across Media, Modes, and Multiple Realities” in Frontiers in Communication: Multimodality of Communication. The editorial highlights the evolving and new contexts for intermodal meaning making in the contemporary digital and multimodal world, which is of value for scholars not only to theorize but also apply their understandings of transduction to inform transdisciplinary research, develop better educational approaches, and bring about positive social change. This editorial presents four articles which contribute towards the set of goals.
