Asst Prof Azilawati Jamaludin Shares on Science of Learning at MOE Curriculum Planning and Development Division Leaders Retreat

Asst Prof Azilawati Jamaludin, Asst Dean (Science of Learning) at the Office of Education Research and Asst Prof in the Learning Sciences and Assessment Academic Group, was invited to speak at the annual retreat for the leaders of the Curriculum Planning and Development Division at the Ministry of Education on 28 July 2020.

Dr Jamaludin spoke on the Science of Learning (SoL), an approach that extends across disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, and education in order to understand how learning occurs to devise effective teaching and learning strategies. The ultimate goal of researchers in the field of SoL is to optimise teaching and learning for all.

Dr Jamaludin shared findings from recent SoL projects at NIE with the audience, including some of the neuroscientific technologies that can be utilised to harness data for SoL research. She also discussed the possible implications of these research findings for various aspects of education, including pedagogy, classroom practices, curriculum and resource development, as well as policy making.

The session concluded with a lively question and answer segment where Dr Jamaludin responded to many interesting and insightful questions from the audience.
