Describe the factors that led you to choose PaCE@NTU.

Since I completed my first degree with NTU School of Computer Engineering (CE), I have always remembered the proficient professors who have imparted their knowledge in the building of foundations for my early career as a software engineer. I trust that NTU will continue to do that and it is one of the main reasons for my decision to enrol in the first course of Specialist Certificate in Data Science after more than 2 decades of working. The pursuing of a complete academic certification similar to NTU undergraduate degree programme definitely attracted me to apply for courses offered by my alma mater instead of other institutions.

Could you share with us some interesting facets of the certificate you enrolled?

The most interesting facet of this certificate to me is being able to reconnect with some of the professors who taught me during my undergraduate days. Also, returning to campus, partnering and communicating with the younger undergraduate students have been a very good experience for me.

Which aspect of this certificate do you like the most?

Personally, I find that the courses in Specialist Certificate in Data Science are very relevant and they provide good theoretical foundations for us to understand the respective technologies. Concretely, Data Analytics and Mining, Machine Learning, and Network Science courses give us very good insights with relevance to the understanding of today's popular applications.

Has this certificate benefitted you in your career development?

In contrast to self-learning from online materials, NTU provides us an organised and disciplined platform where I am able to be productive during the course of learning. Some of the acquired knowledge inspire me to research and think more efficiently in solving my consultation projects in the areas of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Moreover, the new knowledge has also equipped me to explain more in depth to my students as an adjunct lecturer at local polytechnic.

Will you recommend PaCE@NTU’s programmes to your friends and family?

In fact, I have already recommended PaCE@NTU’s programmes to a few of my alumni classmates and currently, one of my students is also taking the same course as me during this semester and will be registering for other course in the next semester. I will continue to promote relevant programmes from PaCE@NTU to my associates and students.
