SSS@NTU Goes Xcape!

Amidst a brisk Saturday afternoon, SSS@NTU Alumni, alongside staff and students, converged for an exciting journey through the themed chambers of Annabelle, The Morgue, and Azkaban. NTU Alumni Homecoming 2023 on 14 October 2023

The School of Social Sciences participated in the NTU Alumni Homecoming on 14 October 2023 where the SSS Alumni Homecoming Tea Reception with wide spread of sumptuous food and a showcase of photo montage of past alumni events organised were specially curated for SSS Alumni to enjoy. We have also organised the mental wellness workshop for SSS alumni to stay healthy by learning how to balance emotions with simple acupressure massage and simple recipes and how to manage anger and anxiety. SSS Alumni also get to practice hands-on with acupressure massage and qigong exercises.

Thereafter, Associate Professor Patrick Williams gave a talk on Youth Culture, Esports and Digital Literacy on how the competitive video gaming- now called E-sports is increasingly recognised as a site for learning important 21st century skills and how E-sports as a leisure activity fits alongside more formal school-based versions of digital literacy and show what young players are learning through their participation in E sports activities.

Climate Change, Plastic Waste and Us Talk cum T-Shirt Totebag Workshop Banne

Assembly Talk on Climate Change, Plastic Waste and Us and a T-shirt tote bag workshop on 9 February 2022

In this online workshop held on 9 February 2022, SSS alumni learnt more about the interconnectedness between climate change, plastics, and humans. They have their questions answered on: What do global plastic waste issues have to do with Singapore, us and future generations? How is waste related to climate change? What can we do to play a part in the sustainability effort?

Of course, nothing beats more than having a practical session where they have hands-on practice on how to use an old T-shirt and redesign it into a T-shirt tote bag which can serve as gifts to friends or they could keep for their own use for grocery shopping and the like.
