Ms Tran Thuy Dung (Yoong)
NTU EEE graduand Tran Thuy Dung, also known as Yoong among friends, graduates with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) with Honours (Highest Distinction) with a Second Major in Business and a Minor in International Trading.
Yoong says she had a great time while at EEE, eating mala with friends and interestingly, wearing a T-rex costume around NTU Campus, on top of watching Netflix in lecture theatres at night and going for late-night suppers during exam reading week.
Yoong also says her EEE professors and staff to be extremely friendly and resourceful. Also, as all EEE lectures were online, she could manage her time to suit her sleeping habits - that meant snoozing all morning and watching the recorded classes at night.
Most importantly, EEE is where she met silly, but wonderful friends throughout her university years.
Many moments were unforgettable such as smashing a watermelon outside of EEE Students' office for an event, accidentally spilling a hot Starbucks venti hazelnut latte on the carpet of the EEE Student's Office, doing BBQ at chalets together with friends, eating
McDonald's' with her mentor professor, wearing a T-rex suit around the school (she was the event mascot), and rolling down the grass patch between EEE and SPMS.
Fun things aside, Yoong was also an exemplary student. She was awarded the EEE Excellence Award, was among one of the many talented EEE Valedictorian Nominees and received the Nanyang Scholarship as well the EEE Chair's Award. She was also part of Undergraduate
Research on Campus (URECA) projects and went on a trip to Silicon Valley in San Francisco on the Technological Study Trip. She truly enjoyed her undergraduate education, especially her Analog Electronics module with Prof Yvonne
Lam.
Yoong was also heavily involved in CCA, She was involved in organising ENITIO freshmen orientation 2019 as Vice President, was also the EEE Outreach committee member, President of Innovation Challenge 2019, Sub-Committee member of EEE Club (Communications), and also the Deputy President
of Garage@EEE (2021-2022). She also ran for the EEE race relay team during inter-school games! There is no doubt that Yoong kept herself busy balancing studying and social activities in EEE!
