Our Impact

Programmes

The Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) Department of the National Institute of Education offers a variety of programmes in teacher education specialising in physical education.

PESS aims to develop student teachers in areas of professional competence and expertise in teaching physical education as a major subject.

The three initial teacher preparation programmes not only provide theoretical and practical courses in Physical Education, but also the knowledge and skills for student teachers to teach other academic school subjects.

In addition, there are also graduate programmes and in-service courses offered to PE teachers and educators in related fields who would like to enhance their career and research.

Admission Criteria

The Physical Proficiency Test (PPT), comprising of five components is one of the pre-requisites for admission to teacher-education programs specializing in Physical Education offered by the National Institute of Education.
