Course Synopsis
This course will provide an overview of the problem-solving curriculum in Singapore at the primary levels. Participants will gain insight into the various aspects of problem solving for primary school children and learn how to support their child effectively.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Gain insight into the various aspects of problem solving for primary school children
- Support their child in mathematical problem-solving

Course Instructor(s)

Dr Cheng Lu Pien, Mathematics & Mathematics Education (MME)
Dr Cheng is the Assistant Dean, Continuing Education at NIE’s Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning. As a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education, she has dedicated her career to enhancing mathematics teaching and learning, with a strong focus on innovative teaching practices, reflective practice and task design. With a PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia, and a multiple-time recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Commendation Award at NIE, she teaches a wide range of courses in initial teacher preparation, professional development programmes, and graduate courses in mathematics education.
