C J Koh Scholarship (Semester@NIE)
The National Institute of Education (NIE), an autonomous institution within the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore is the only teacher education institute in Singapore. We are proud to be an integral part of the nation’s educational service and play a key role in the preparation of teachers and in the provision of teacher professional and school leadership development programmes.
NIE is offering several places to ASEAN undergraduate students for a semester. The Semester@NIE programme is an excellent opportunity for ASEAN university looking at providing its top students with an overseas stint. The Semester@NIE programme is for fee-paying Year 2 or 3 undergraduate students who aspire to study in Singapore for a semester to learn more about Singapore education system and experience how we prepare teachers for different disciplines. All courses taken in NIE are credit transferable to your degree that will be conferred by your home university. This stint will give the top students a chance to broaden their undergraduate experience.
NIE has an NTU-NIE Teaching Scholars Programme (TSP) that augments a 4-year Double Major Undergraduate Degrees - Bachelor of Arts (Academic Discipline/Education) and Bachelor of Science (Academic Discipline/Education) programmes. TSP is a premier scholar programme aimed at preparing tomorrow’s leaders of education who possess the passion and aspiration to inspire, nurture and lead our next generation.
Together the TSP and the BA/BSc (Academic Discipline/Education) programmes offer in-depth content specialisation and feature an exciting multi-disciplinary curriculum that comprises a wide selection of electives and seminars by distinguished professors, government leaders and industry luminaries.
NIE has professors (and courses) in content subjects like English, English Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, Mathematics History, Art, Music, Sports Science, Physical Education, etc. In addition, we have experts in all disciplines of education, ranging from educational psychology to learning sciences.
NIE is offering up to two (2) C J Koh Scholarships per academic year to join the Semester@NIE programme.
Recipients of the Semester@NIE Scholarship are sponsored for their semester fees and a stipend for a semester.

Criteria for Selection
The selection criteria for the award of the scholarship are as follows:
- Applicants must be a current undergraduate Year 2 or 3 student in the home university.
- Applicants for the scholarship must have been offered the Semester@NIE Programme.
- Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential
- Applicants must present themselves as well-rounded individuals and possess good non-academic records
- Applicants must agree to be featured in NIE publications

Concurrent Awards: | The award recipient may, subject to the approval of NIE, hold any other award(s) concurrently. | ||

Shortlisted applicants can expect to receive an update from NIE on the arrangements for the selection interview within 6 weeks from the close of the application window. If applicants have not heard from NIE by then, they should assume that their application is unsuccessful.
CJ Koh Bursaries
The National Institute of Education (NIE), an autonomous institution within the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore is the only teacher education institute in Singapore. We are proud to be an integral part of the nation’s educational service and play a key role in the preparation of teachers and in the provision of teacher professional and school leadership development programmes.
NIE launched the NIE Singapore Undergraduate (UG) Online programme to offer our courses to local and international students. It is a 4-week virtual summer programme that will run every July. Students can read up to two courses during the 4 weeks.
The courses will run every July. Although the courses are pitched at the UG level, we welcome non-UG students, for example, students awaiting entrance into UG programmes, students enrolled in Postgraduate programmes and even trained teachers to join us. All participants will receive a certificate of completion. Transcripts will be provided to all matriculated undergraduate students to credit transfer the courses they read during the programme (subjected to the approval from their home university).
NIE is offering up to two (2) C J Koh Bursaries to encourage more students from ASEAN countries and developing countries to enroll in the NIE Singapore Undergraduate Online programme.
Recipients of the C J Koh Bursaries are sponsored for the tuition fees for ONE course. Recipients are still required to pay for the registration and administration fees of SGD450.

Should the recipients decide to read more than one course, they will have to pay the tuition fees of the second course on their own.
