Ms Vanessa Goh started her career in education as a Secondary School teacher. She was subsequently posted to the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) as a Senior Early Childhood Officer. As a member of the Professional Development Department, Vanessa contributed to improving career and professional development opportunities for early childhood educators through the conceptualisation and implementation of several policies and programmes, including the Skills Framework for Early Childhood Care and Education, the Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Leadership, the Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching & Learning, and the ECDA Fellows Programme. Before joining NIE as a Teaching Fellow, Vanessa served as a Subject Head in a Primary School where she designed and implemented a three-phrase approach to help improve the transition practices in the school.

Dr Elizabeth Ow Yeong has taught in the mainstream school system for the past 25 years. She has served as HOD (Student Well-being), amongst other appointments. Currently seconded to the National Institute of Education, she focuses on training pre-service teachers, allied educators for learning and behavioural support, as well as in-service teachers in the area of special needs. Her research interests include special needs education in mainstream schools and constructivist teaching approaches. In 2017, Dr Ow Yeong was awarded the President’s Award for Teachers for her services to education.

Ms Yeo Young Muay, Jemima

Jemima started her career as a primary school teacher. She has taught at different levels and has spent a good number of years in the lower primary. In the schools, she had held the positions of Head of Department for English, as well as Head of Department for Curriculum and Assessment. In the latter, she worked with department heads across the different disciplines to set the standards and provide the structures and processes at the systemic level, especially in aspects pertaining to assessment practices. In her stint at MOE HQ as a senior officer in the Pre-school Education Branch, she was involved in the research and writing of the Nurturing Early Learners Framework, and the accreditation process of the training providers in the early childhood sector. When the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) was formed, she was seconded as a manager to the Professional Development Department, leading a group of dedicated officers as they worked with the polytechnics and training providers to uplift the early childhood sector through quality training programmes, continuing professional development opportunities, and career progression.
