Driving Strategic Change, Embracing AI & Shaping the Future of Learning

Since its establishment in July 2021, InsPIRE has contributed to NTU's 2025 Education Strategic Plan through initiatives such as developing interdisciplinary courses, promoting authentic learning, and leveraging AI to enhance teaching and learning.

Moving forward, InsPIRE will continue to strengthen NTU's educational infrastructure through efforts such as integrating AI, visualisation and role play to improve teaching and learning, and fostering a healthy learning ecosystem through faculty engagement and international collaboration.

A Sneak Peek of NTU's AI Learning Assistants - NALA

The latest version of NALA introduces multiple prompt templates, allowing educators to craft tailored chatbot responses while giving students the flexibility to choose a response style that suits their needs. This enhancement, based on student feedback, supports more flexible learning and exam preparation.

Education Excellence (EdeX) Teaching and Learning Grants

The EdeX Grant offers financial support to faculty members engaging in scholarly projects aimed at enhancing teaching practices and improving student learning experiences at NTU. For the AY2025-2026 cycle, the application deadline is 2 June 2025.

AI in Education singapore conference

The Inaugural AI for Education Singapore Conference (supported by NVidia)

Last November, the inaugural AI for Education Singapore conference positioned NTU at the forefront of educational innovation, underscoring the University’s commitment to leveraging AI for academic excellence and societal advancement.

On the Frontiers of Quantum Computing

Highlights from NTU’s 3rd Quantum Industry Day (Dec 2024) include:

  • Quantum research at NTU
  • Quantum-inspired algorithms and applications
  • Quantum error correction
  • Demos of various platforms such as Loom, Classiq and Triple Alpha, and  
  • A hands-on IBM Quantum Qiskit workshop

The event reinforced NTU’s commitment to quantum research, education, and industry collaboration, driving innovation in the rapidly expanding quantum ecosystem.

Two ICC Course are Finalists in the QS Reimagine Education Awards

Out of more than 1300 submission, ML0004 Career and Innovative Enterprise for the Future World won the Bronze award for “Nurturing Employability” while CC0006 Sustainability: Society, Economy and Environment was shortlisted for the “Sustainability Education Literacy Award”.

Support for Faculty to Enhance Their Courses

The Course Material Enhancement Project, provides $1,000 per course (or $2,000 if AI is involved) to support faculty in refining course materials, such as handouts, slides, and animations.

Key details:

  • Funding: $1,000 per course (or $2,000 if AI is involved)
  • Submission Requirements: No formal proposals; only a brief project description is needed.
  • Review Process: Applications reviewed within 3 weeks.
  • Application: Apply here (intranet).
