Investigating lipid transport in cells: Asst Prof Yasunori Saheki
Fascinated by science since he was a young child, Asst Prof Saheki Yasunori, Nanyang Assistant Professor at NTU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, was inspired by his grandfather to be a scientist.
Today, his laboratory investigates how the transport of lipids such as cholesterol is regulated in neurons and various other cells.
Findings from his research shed light on the importance of lipid transport for the proper functioning of the brain and lay the foundation for developing new treatments for neurological disorders.
