List of External Bursaries

The SAWL Scholarship Fund was set up by the Singapore Association of Women Lawyers to provide financial assistance to needy and physically/intellectually disabled students.

The scholarships are to be awarded to candidates who must be either Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents of Singapore and who are physically or intellectually disabled and  in need of financial assistance to pursue their education.

The SAWL Scholarship Fund application form should be submitted by post with all available supporting documents to support the applications for suitable candidates, for the Trustees to review.  Please refer to the  Application FAQs  for all criteria for applications and supporting documents required.  

Please note the closing date for applications is 30 September 2024. Applications received after this date will not be considered.  APPLICATIONS BY EMAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Toa Payoh Seu Teck Sean Tong aims to provide financial assistance to students from low-income families.
 
Qualifying Criteria
•              Open for Singaporeans or PR only
•              Gross monthly household income must not exceed S$4,000 or per capita income must not exceed S$1,000
•              Applicant must be of good conduct
•              Applicant must have satisfactory academic results
•              Only a maximum of 1 applicant per household
•              Applicant is required to volunteer for a minimum of 10 hours at Toa Payoh Seu Teck Sean Tong’s charity programs, within 9 months of receiving the bursary
 
Quantum of Award
The bursary quantum is S$1,000 to each successful undergraduate applicant.

The SINDA-SIET Tertiary Bursary empowers Singaporean Indian students facing challenges and ensures that no one is held back by financial constraints in their pursuit of excellence.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents of Indian origin
  • Per Capita Income (PCI) of $1,600 or less
  • Applied for financial assistance such as Ministry of Education (MOE) or Higher Education Community Bursary, Tuition Grant/Loan etc prior to applying for SINDA-SIET Tertiary Bursary Award 2024

The Howe Yoon Chong PSA Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to Singaporean students from lower income families, especially those who have made a difference to their community or society.

Eligibility for scholarship

  • Financial background : Applicant’s household per capita income must not exceed S$1000 per month
  • Academic results : At least B average
  • Good track record in Co-curricular Activities (CCA)
  • Contributions in Community Work and Leadership abilities

Muslim Trust Fund Association (MTFA) is an organisation that provides financial assistance to the needy and low-income families.  

Applicants must be Muslim Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents . The applicant family's Per Capita Income must not exceed $500  per month.

Quantum is determined on a case-by-case basis. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.

Chettiars’ Temple Society (CTS) is offering CTS Education Awards to deserving students form University. In addition, an additional award is given to students who have scored the highest possible grade in Tamil Language. 

Full-time Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible for both awards.

The MaritimeONE Bursary Fund provides support to students coming from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that the doors to a quality education remain open to all Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents, while expanding the talent pool for the maritime sector.

The bursary will be awarded to academically qualified Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who are pursuing maritime-related studies or who intend to pursue a career in maritime.

This year awardees will be awarded under the MaritimeONE - PCL Maritime Bursary sponsored by Pacific Carriers Limited.

Bursary awardees are morally obligated to join the maritime industry for 6-months upon graduation. 

The MaritimeONE bursaries are open to:

  • Singaporean and Singapore PR students,
  • Full-time undergraduate courses in the local ITE, polytechnics and universities with good results; and
  • Gross Monthly Household Per Capita Income (PCI) of less than or equal to $2,500 per month

Bursary is tenable for one academic year; and will cover 70% of Singaporean school fees.

Applications are now open until 15 Nov 2024. 

 

The Sivadas-HEB Education Fund, a fund established by the trustees of the Estate of the Late Sivadas Sankaran, provides needy Hindu Children with financial assistance to get a good education.

The fund invites Hindu undergraduates from low income families to apply for an Education Grant. This one-off grant of up to a maximum of $1500, is to be used to purchase books, IT equipment or other educational materials.  

Applicants must be SG or SPR, Hindus and have a household per capita income not exceeding $1900 per month.

Applications are open from 21 August 2024 and closes on 11 September 2024. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview within 3 weeks of the closing date.

This bursary, which is administered by Yayasan Mendaki, is available for application.

Applicants must be Malay Singapore Citizens or Malay Permanent Residents who have been residing in Singapore for at least 5 years, and are commencing your 1st year of studies.

Full time undergraduates who are Singapore Citizens and Residents of the South West District can submit their application online (www.go.gov.sg/swcdctertiarygrantform) or visit the nearest CC in the South West District to pick up and submit a hardcopy application. Application period is throughout the year.

The grant is open to:

a) Resident of the South West District
b) Singapore Citizen or at least one immediate family member is a Singapore Citizen
c) Full-time student studying in Local Polytechnic or University
d) Household Income of $3,500 or PCI of $1000 and below, whichever is lower

The Serve Our City Education Bursary is an Every Nation Church (Singapore) (ENCS) financial award given to invest in the future of our community youth leaders in Singapore.

The Bursary provides SGD 3,600 per annum to help cover university school fees and study-related expenses for students who demonstrate financial need and are full-time NUS/NTU undergraduate students.

Applicants must be Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents aged 16-25 years old with a household per capita income of SGD 1725 and below or where combined household income does not exceed SGD 6900 (gross) per month. Deserving students who fall out of the eligibility criteria due to exceptional family circumstances (for example, those with family members who have high medical expenses), may be considered.

They must also have demonstrated interest, dedication and commitment in serving the community and have actively participated in community work in at least the last 1 year.

Shortlisted participants may be required to attend an interview.

Application with supporting documents must be submitted by 31 August of the Academic Year.

Students who are offered Higher Education Bursary or Higher Education Community Bursary will be allowed to accept the Serve Our City Education Bursary concurrently only with permission of the school.

Full-time undergraduates who are Teochew Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents are invited to apply for scholarships & bursaries tenable for full-time studies in NTU, Singapore.

Applicants must demonstrate good conduct and pass each subject/module. Each scholarship and bursary award is tenable for one academic year with quantum of up to $12,000 and $7,000 respectively.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified via email to attend an interview.

Interested applicants are required to mail their applications (including online applications) and supporting documents to The Ngee Ann Kongsi from 30 May – 10 June 2024. Closing date is Monday, 10 June 2024, 5pm. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
