Where the dead leaf fell, there did it rest
John Keats
Inspired by the lush greenery of the campus, Fern is a site-specific sculptural work that functions as a bench with a seating capacity for 12 people or more, providing shelter to busy students and teachers as they transit between classes on campus. On a sunny day, the photovoltaic panels harvest solar energy and the built-in system to store energy that enables users to charge their small electrical devices at the two charging stations and stay connected. Fern showcases the relevance of design among technological disciplines, and stimulates design appreciation as a fundamental value of the built environment.
