Earth Explorations

In conjunction with NTU Arts Festival 2025 Metanoia workshop series, NTU Museum and Wild Dot presented Earth Explorations, a workshop on creating colour pigments with natural earth. Shirin and Liz from nature-guided art studio Wild Dot conducted two sessions in February 2025 at the NIE Art Gallery benches where they shared the process of paint making through its earliest form of colour pigments. Participants explored the greenery around the gallery and learned to create their own natural pigments using the earth that they found, and took part in a no-frills urban sketching session experimenting with earth paints and outdoor sketching techniques.
Artists
Wild Dot is a nature-guided art studio from Singapore. Combining design, art and botany, they make inks and colour pigments with plants and earth growing in Singapore, and share this process through designing playful artmaking experiences with others. Their intention is to explore how the process of (art)making can be an accessible way for more people to relearn our relations with plants and our environments.
