IMPORTANT NOTE: REVISION TO UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR UK A LEVEL & INTERATIONAL A-LEVEL (IAL) HOLDERS TAKING MAY/ JUNE EXAMINATIONS
From Academic Year 2022-23 admission intake onwards, NTU is no longer accepting applications from UK A Level & IAL holders (CIE/Edexcel/OCR/AQA/WJEC/LRN) whose actual A level results avail in August of the application year as the academic term has started and too late for our consideration for admissions. Please apply for admission in the following academic year.
Minimum Requirement to Apply
UK GCE A-Level (Cambridge, Edexcel, OCR, AQA, LRN)
Good passes in at least 4 Advanced Level subjects taken in the same sitting (i.e. the examination of the final paper taken in the same period of time), either from the same board or mixed boards. Advanced Level subjects with final paper taken in different period of time are unacceptable. Students with good passes in 3 Advanced Level subjects taken in the same sitting are not precluded from applying. Such applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This is, however, not applicable to international students applying for admission on subsidised tuition fee basis due to limited places available.
Cambridge Pre-U
Good passes in all subjects in Cambridge Pre-U Diploma taken in the same sitting Or Good passes in at least 4 Principal subjects taken in the same sitting. Students with good passes in 3 Principal subjects taken in a single sitting are not precluded from applying. Such applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This is, however, not applicable to international students applying for admission on subsidised tuition fee basis due to limited places available.
Cambridge Pre-U and Cambridge GCE A-Level
Good passes in at least 4 subjects in Pre-U Principal subjects and Cambridge GCE A-Level taken in the same sitting. Combination of results taken in different period of time is unacceptable. Students with good pass in 3 Cambridge Pre-U Principal subjects and Cambridge GCE A-Level are not precluded from applying and such applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This is, however, not applicable to international students applying for admission on subsidised tuition fee basis due to limited places available.
Welsh qualifications
Students with good passes in at least 4 A-Level subjects taken in the same sitting may apply. Those with good passes in 3 A-Level subjects taken in the same sitting are not precluded from applying. Such applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This is, however, not applicable to international students applying for admission on subsidised tuition fee basis due to limited places available.
Direct Admission
Medallists (Gold, Silver or Bronze) of International Science Olympiads Competitions in Biology (IBO), Chemistry (IChO), Physics (IPhO), Mathematics (IMO), Informatics (IOI), Astronomy (IAO), Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) and Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) will be considered for admission more favourably to programmes related to their field of achievement. Medallists of International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) will be considered for programmes offered under Division of Physics and Applied Physics. Admission to programmes not closely related to the field of achievement will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Interview may be conducted before the decision of admissions is made.
To apply, you must be in the final year of your high school or already completed your high school.
English Language Requirements
If English is not the medium of studies or learning in the high school or taken as a 2nd language (also called English as an Additional Language) , submission of IGCSE O-Level English language at first language (grade ‘A’) or IELTS (a minimum Overall 6, Writing 6) or TOEFL/TOEFL iBT® Home Edition (a minimum of 90 - iBT) or SAT (a minimum of 1250 for redesigned SAT) or Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) (a minimum of 55) or ACT with Writing (a minimum of composite score of 30 in ACT with Writing in one sitting) or C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English Advanced (CAE)) is required
NTU Entrance Examination (NTU EE)
Not required.
Programmes Eligibility
Eligible to apply for all programmes if fulfil the minimum subject requirements of the programmes. For programmes with ‘Mathematics at Senior High School’ listed as the minimum subject requirements, Mathematics taken at A-Level is sufficient. There is no added advantage for taking Further Mathematics at A-Level.
Applicants with A-Level or Pre-U results available after April 1st of the application year will not be eligible to apply for the LKCMedicine programme and Renaissance Engineering programme in this admission exercise.
Students whose actual high School graduation / national examination results available after July 15th will not be eligible to apply for Art, Design & Media programme in this admission exercise. .
Note:
1. Admission is highly competitive, especially for non-citizens, due to limited places available. The admission point varies from year to year and between different programmes. Meeting the minimum requirements to apply does not guarantee admission to any of the programmes in NTU.
2. The primary factor in admission decision is the high school academic performance. Decision will be made with actual results only. No provisional offer will be made with preliminary results.
